Student Volunteer Opportunities

All student volunteer positions have been filled for the APAP|NYC 2012 conference.  We are no longer accepting applications.  Please join us for APAP|NYC 2013 on January 11-15, 2013.

Arts Presenters is very pleased to extend a special invitation to all full-time students (graduate OR undergraduate) interested in attending the APAP|NYC 2012 conference.


Student Volunteer Training Webinar

Student volunteers are an important force in creating a successful conference. This webinar provides background information on APAP and APAP|NYC, tips on how to get the most out of the experience, and information about what to expect as a student volunteer at one of the world’s largest arts conferences.

Participating student volunteers who volunteer to work 20 hours in any combination of shifts before or during the five days of the conference are eligible to receive:

  • FREE student conference registration - once your work shift is over, this allows you to take advantage of all conference events, including professional development sessions, open meetings and showcase performances.
  • FREE Student Membership for one year – this gives you year-round access to the wide array of benefits and services we provide including: APAP|365 web platform with a Job Bank, funding and networking opportunities, and knowledge products.

Student Volunteer Job Descriptions

Job availability is assigned based on interest and skill, on a first come, first served basis. We will try our best to accommodate your schedule and interests. And we request your cooperation and flexibility should we ask that you assist us in other areas. Please note that all the positions described below require multiple volunteers.

Awards Luncheon

Monday, January 9 Noon – 1:30 pm
Assist with speaker, board and special guest seating and greeting attendees.

Artist Workshops/Pre-conference forums

Thursday/Friday,
January 5-6
1:00 – 4:00 pm Thursday (artist workshops); 9:00 am – Noon Friday (pre-conference workshops)
Assist conference staff and facilitators as needed.

Conference Info Desk

Assist APAP Staff and volunteer members at the Info Booth to greet attendees and provide information about NY and the conference.

Credentials Committee

Volunteers on the Credentials Committee help monitor the entrances to various conference functions and ensure that all attendees have official APAP|NYC 2012 credentials – a current conference badge. By participating on the Credentials Committee, you help APAP continue to provide the professional business atmosphere that our members have come to expect and value.
Documentarians
Pre Conference Forums Friday, January 6 9:00 am – Noon
Professional Development Sessions Saturday, January 7 9:00 am – 11:45 am
Document professional development sessions and other assigned events. Excellent English writing and grammar skills required. Volunteer must attend the entire session.

This position will be the initial contact point for attendees at the conference. The role involves checking in attendees, distribution of badges and appropriate conference materials, explaining conference badge policy, and helping to keep conference materials well stocked and organized.

Volunteers must be willing to jump into situations at a moment's notice, be able to think on their feet and work independently.
